OptSuite is a software platform for instrument control and the control of experimental measurement setups. It is built on the Eclipse RCP and makes use of its plugin mechanism to create an extensible framework that can be adapted to a variety of data-acquisition and visualisation tasks.
OptSuite provides interfaces on all levels of programming or computer knowledge. It enables users to manage measurements by a graphical user interface or extend OptSuite’s capabilities by JavaScript, Matlab scripts or Java classes.
OptSuiteās current set of plugins provides extensions of the framework for phase-shifting interferometry and time domain OCT. Therefore several reusable hardware interfaces and measurement algorithms were developed including the control of FireWire cameras as intensity detectors, a framework for controlling motor stages, an interface to GPIB devices or an USB-controlled piezo-driven device for phase-shifting.
OptSuite is free software and published under LGPL.
OptSuite was started during the diploma thesis of Alexander Bieber at Imtek - Microoptics at the University of Freiburg in 2004.
Work is still in progress on OptSuite especially on its extensibillity and generic adaptability.
